I have developed software professionally since 1998. Since 2017 I have mainly developed web applications and APIs with Elixir, Phoenix, Vue.js and Postgres. I've also done a lot of work with Databricks.

I've been building Sprout's software platform since 2017, and have led technology there since 2020.

Before that I spent many years at Bank of America, building ATM software and other systems in C# and C++.

Open source software has been an important part of my life for more than thirty years, after I was introduced to Linux at the University of Kansas. I've created or made substantial contributions to open source projects in a number of domains and several languages, including Elixir, Haskell, C, C++ and Rust (all before the age of chat LLMs).

I've done a fair amount of Linux and cloud systems administration in both professional and personal contexts and have used many distributions over the years, including Fedora, Debian and Arch. Most recently I've enjoyed building a homelab with NixOS, OpenTofu and Incus.

Lately I'm most interested in open source public forge platforms, such as Codefloe and Tangled.

I live near Charlotte, North Carolina with my wife and two children.
